The Groupies : Primitive (1966)

The Groupies: Primitive / Hog (I'm A Hog For You Baby)

Primitive. This song is insane. It towers over you like a nocturnal juggernaut, it slices you like some NY ripper in a dark alley in the wee small hours in the NY morning.
This is the shit real goofballs (should) listen to, I mean, the real freaks.
The way The Groupies live is not only primitive in layman's terms, we are talking the amygdala here baby - reptile.

They are in fact so primitive that if they even reflect too much on the subject, they will probably.. die, i suppose.

You've probably heard The Cramps version of it, and they really do give it justice. But The Cramps always have this camped-up fun vibe about them, so I stick to the spooky original.

They described themselves as "Lower East Side scum" (if that ain't punk I don't know what is) and Warhol should've taken a shine to them and 'produce' their album too! If they ever got a chance to record one..
Because this is it, this is their catalogue. Still, it is better than most of the pretentious shit their stat-buddies VU tried to pass as rock'n'roll.

Placed #113 on the TBM Top 1000
